About The Library

The library provides resources in support of the curriculum from years 7 to 13, as well as providing recreational reading, periodicals, newspapers and DVDs. The library catalogue system is computerised and can be searched from computers anywhere in the school.

The library is a vibrant area and encourages all students to read and discover as much as possible.

The library is approximately 400 sq meters and has low level wooden shelving creating a light bright area with plenty of room for display. Because the shelving is mobile, space can be created and we host performance poetry, author visits, and debates.

The librarian has created extra curricular opportunities, there is a budding writers' group and an opportunity to take part in the West Kent Schools Themed Book Award. There is also the opportunity to become part of the student librarians' team, working towards a student librarian certificate. Many students also make use of the chess sets and other games on offer.

The library is open every day and the facilities can be used at break and lunch times, as well as being open an hour after school on a Monday and Wednesday. Sixth formers can use the library during their private study time.
