Mascalls PTA has existed for many years, enjoying lots of teacher involvement and raising considerable funds. Currently, however, it is much depleted, as the economic situation and time pressures on parents and staff make the traditional PTA format no longer viable.
Whilst many parents will be glad to see the end of raffle tickets and cake-making after primary school, it is a pity to throw the baby out with the bath water! The PTA continues to be an excellent way to promote contact between parents and demonstrate to students that we value and support their school community.
We have therefore shifted focus away from major fund-raising and towards offering support for the school in small, less time-consuming ways eg the Mascalls Lotto, Xmas fair and refreshments at events, to make life more pleasant and allow teachers to concentrate on teaching. Any funds raised along the way will be used to enhance the quality of life for students.
PTA involvement does not require a huge amount of time, effort or money and can be sociable and fun! All help is welcomed and the more people we can get on board, the less work there is for any individual and the more we can support the school.
