Our Vision Statement
The RE department aims to give students the opportunity to be innovative in their approach to learning and raising their self esteem to give them courage to take risks in their learning experiences. RE will provide all students an appreciation of cultural diversity which leads to respect for all.
RE aims to engage all students, giving them a safe environment where they can explore and develop their own views and values and at the same time reflect and evaluate the opinions of others.
Our dedicated classrooms are equipped with television, video, DVD, CD players and permanent ceiling mounted digital projectors.
We teach the six major world religions in Key Stage 3 and concentrate mainly on Christianity and Islam in the short course GCSE. This is an issues based exam covering topics such as Marriage, Divorce, Euthanasia, the existence of God. The GCSE is very well liked and students perform exceptionally well. This leads on to a very successful A level where the course studied is Philosophy and Ethics.
