Sixth Form

Dear Student,

The Sixth Form at Mascalls School has a special place within our school community. Students are recognised as young adults and are encouraged to take an active role within the school. We take pride in the fact that our students mentor and support younger members of the school acting as positive role models, raising aspirations and creating a warm, friendly and safe environment.

Our facilities include a purpose built common room, sixth form study area, Drama, Dance, Recording, Music, Information Technology and Technology Suites. Our sports facilities are excellent, with a state of the art all weather Astroturf pitch. The school also boasts an Art Gallery with exhibitions from world renowned artists and the Sixth Form have the opportunity to have their work exhibited once a year if they meet the standard expected of a professional exhibition.

Mascalls Sixth Form provides a friendly and supportive atmosphere and we welcome applications from students in other schools, as well as our own Year 11. You will be given expert and friendly support to help you make informed choices about your future. We have high expectations for our students and the excellent standards of teaching ensure that our students are equipped with the best education so they achieve big things. When our students leave us, they are successful in gaining places at prestigious universities or they will have secured employment offering training opportunities. In 2011, 39% of our Sixth Form students gained A*-B grades and 98% achieved passes in their A2 subjects.

In addition to your studies, there will be a number of opportunities for you as a young adult to develop personal interests, as well as undertake work experience. A well established programme of enrichment supports an individual extended project which can help to set you apart from other university or employment candidates. The Sixth Form are involved in a range of extra-curricular activities including Games, leadership programmes, dance, musical and drama productions as well as the opportunity to visit our partner school in Bereko, Tanzania.

Sixth formers enjoy many privileges and are highly regarded by the staff and students in the school for their contributions to the school community. The highest accolade a student can receive is being voted by their peers and staff to become a school prefect - a very rewarding role with many areas of responsibility.

Please take this time to have a look around our school website and view our prospectus, by clicking the button below. We look forward to receiving your application, which should be made via the Kent Choices 4 U website, and hope to welcome you as a member of the Sixth Form in the not too distant future
